DOE Hosts Webinar on How Munis Fund Solar Projects

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Community Renewable Energy Deployment activity will host a webinar on Tuesday, February 19, at 1:00 pm EST to discuss ways municipal utilities fund solar energy projects. The webinar will highlight initiatives by two municipalities: Concord Light (Concord, Mass.), and Austin Energy (Austin, Texas). Concord Light will outline its solar photovoltaic rebate program, while Austin Energy will discuss its innovative “Residential Solar Rate,” which replaced net energy metering based on a value of solar analysis.

The event is free of charge and registration is required.

DOE selected five Community Renewable Energy Deployment (CommRE) projects to receive funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. In addition to the CommRE projects, DOE has also developed a Renewable Energy Project Development Tool and webinars to provide helpful information to other community renewable energy projects.
